Abstract

In the process of introducing student orientation, an orientation period is needed for new students in order to introduce school programs, the school environment, ways of learning, and the concept of self-introduction as initial guidance towards the formation of a school character that is conducive to further learning processes in accordance with national education goals. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the data that has been collected, researchers use observation, interviews and documentation studies for descriptive analysis needs. The results of an interview conducted with one of the student affairs teachers regarding the student orientation process carried out at SMAN 40 Surabaya showed that at the start of entry activities were carried out in the form of a Pre-Introduction Period to the School Environment which had been determined by a schedule from the Education Office. The evaluation process is carried out on the effectiveness of the student orientation process by holding meetings every year with the head of school and the principal, so that there are things that may not have been successful yesterday that cannot be implemented in the future so that they can be implemented.
